As custodians of the breed, the foremost aim of the Shar Pei Club of Great Britain is to “promote the health and well-being of the breed” and with that in mind, breeders must strive to breed healthy puppies to live healthy lives and bring life-long pleasure to their owners. The Club recommends that its’ members who breed, participate in the Kennel Club’s Accredited Breeders Scheme and to make use of any future health schemes and genetic tests which may become available in the future in order to eradicate known health problems. The Shar Pei Club of Great Britain supports the Chinese Shar Pei Charitable Trust, which was founded and established to seek funding to address all the genetic health issues of the Shar Pei “Our dogs are counting on us”
